Ternopil volunteer, journalist, public figure Taras Savchuk was thanked for his contribution to Ukraine’s defense capability, active citizenship, care and all-round volunteer assistance, patriotism and care, and for the close and fruitful 71st separate hunting brigade (military unit 4030).

The letter of thanks was signed by the commander of the A4030 village unit, Colonel Andriy Tkachuk.

The 71st Separate Yeger Brigade (71 OEBr, military unit) is a military unit within the Airborne Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine with a brigade size. The brigade was created immediately after the beginning of the large-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, which began on February 24, 2022. Appearing as a unit of the Reserve Corps, already in April 2022, units of the brigade left the reserve and took part in combat operations in the Kharkiv Region, and from June 2022 in the Donbass. In September 2022, units of the 71st brigade were seen at the initial stage of an offensive operation in the Kharkiv region. In particular, on September 5-8, its fighters forced Siverska Donets and led an offensive on Balaklia from the direction of Husarivka.

In October 2022, the soldiers of the brigade received the awards of the commander of the Special Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the message mentions that at that time they were performing combat missions in the Donetsk region. On October 20, it was reported about the participation of the brigade in the battles near Bakhmut. On December 6, 2022, the brigade was awarded the “For courage and bravery” medal.

On December 13, according to Tom Cooper, the brigade on the outskirts of Bakhmut repulsed an attack by Wagner units reinforced by the 31st Airborne Assault Brigade.

At the end of January 2023, the brigade took part in the battles near Kreminnaya.
